SportsJavier 'Chicharito' Hernández, the 38-year-old Mexico national team record goalscorer and former Manchester United, Real Madrid, and LA Galaxy striker, has signed a two-year contract with USL Championship expansion club Atlético Dallas, with a club option for a third year. The signing, announced on July 27, 2026, makes Hernández the club's first player ahead of its debut 2027 season. Club founder and chairman Matt Valentine had listed Hernández as a dream signing years ago. After Hernández's contract with boyhood club Chivas Guadalajara ended in December 2025, Valentine pursued him for months, keeping the talks secret through the 2026 men's World Cup. Hernández cited the long-term project and desire to connect with the Dallas community as key reasons for joining. The deal includes plans for Hernández to eventually transition into the club's sporting department.
