Gianni Infantino's reform project continues to divide world football, but it has now received its first major endorsement from a European federation.
David Trunda, President of the Czech Football Federation since last year, has publicly declared his support for the creation of FIFA Forward Enterprise — a new structure that would consolidate the commercial rights of FIFA's major competitions.
In an interview with Sky News, Trunda described the initiative as a significant opportunity for the development of Czech football:
"I can see the pragmatic benefits for Czech football in working closely with Gianni Infantino and his team. Of course, we need more details, but my personal view is that I can see the positive impact of FIFA's intentions."
Balancing Support for FIFA and UEFA
While UEFA has intensified its criticism of the project and is weighing its response, Trunda was careful to acknowledge the European body's importance:
"UEFA remains a very important partner."
He also highlighted the positive experiences he has had with FIFA since taking office:
"I was elected a little over a year ago, and personally, all the projects I have experienced in cooperation with FIFA have been very positive for the development of European football."
Next Steps
Trunda confirmed that the executive committee of the Czech Football Federation will formally review the proposal during a meeting scheduled for August 11.
