SportsManuel Neuer, the 40-year-old captain of FC Bayern Munich and 2014 World Cup winner, has for the first time given a concrete indication of his retirement date. Speaking at the team's training camp in Rottach-Egern, Neuer told BILD that while he does not want to announce each game as his last, it 'strongly looks like' he will stop after the 2026-27 season. He extended his contract with Bayern in May after months of deliberation, admitting he was 85% ready to retire but was persuaded by the quality of the team, coaching staff, and club structure. Neuer stated he is continuing for personal reasons and because he can still help the team. He hinted at an ideal ending: winning the Champions League final on June 5, 2027, at Atlético Madrid's Estadio Metropolitano, which would be his third Champions League title.
