BRS accuses Congress of delaying TIMS Alwal hospital; Congress says project nearly complete

A day after Secunderabad Cantonment MLA Sri Ganesh inspected the under-construction 1,000-bedded Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) Hospital at Alwal and claimed the project was progressing rapidly, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) on Wednesday (July 29) accused the Congress government of delaying the completion and operationalisation of the hospital.

Leading a BRS delegation to the hospital, party official spokesperson Manne Krishank alleged that the project—initiated during the BRS government led by former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao—had remained incomplete despite repeated assurances from the Congress government.

Addressing the media after the visit, Mr. Krishank said Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy had inspected the hospital several months after the Congress government assumed office and had stated at the time that 90% of the construction work had already been completed.

"Despite those assurances, the remaining work was yet to be completed and the hospital had not been opened to the public," he said.

The BRS leader alleged that the government was intentionally postponing the inauguration of the hospital instead of making the facility available to the public at the earliest.

Dr. Krishank also levelled allegations against Cantonment MLA Sri Ganesh, claiming that several development works in the constituency had raised concerns among residents, including:

• The Trimulgherry Lake beautification project
• Issues relating to the allotment of 2BHK houses
• Alleged encroachments on Survey No. 157/1 at Bowenpally
• The delay in completing the TIMS hospital

He further alleged that the MLA’s repeated inspections of the hospital were limited to photo opportunities.

On Tuesday, Mr. Sri Ganesh had inspected the hospital along with officials from the Roads and Buildings Department and the Health Department to review the project's progress. During the inspection, he reviewed completed works, ongoing construction, and remaining tasks.

Claiming that only 14% of the construction had been completed during the BRS government’s tenure, Mr. Sri Ganesh said that nearly 90% of the work had been completed since the Congress government assumed office. He stated that the hospital would provide state-of-the-art medical services to residents of the Secunderabad Cantonment and surrounding areas, adding that advanced medical equipment was being procured from abroad.
