U.S. Army awards Ford, GM Defense, BC Customs contracts for next-gen Infantry Squad Vehicle-Heavy prototypes

The U.S. Army has awarded firm-fixed-price Other Transaction Agreements to Ford, GM Defense, and BC Customs to build competing prototypes of its future Infantry Squad Vehicle-Heavy (ISV-H). Each company will deliver three six-seat platforms by March 30, 2027, for testing by the Army Test and Evaluation Command. The ISV-H is designed to carry a 4,000-pound payload, tow a 6,500-pound trailer, and export 60 kW of continuous high-voltage DC power to support counter-drone systems, electronic warfare, and directed energy weapons. The Army's fiscal 2027 budget requests initial purchase of 34 vehicles at $463,000 each, with a long-term goal of 606 vehicles. The service aims to address a critical power-generation shortfall at the mobile brigade combat team level.
