Federal Police Operation Yields 36 Search Successes

The Magdeburg Federal Police Inspectorate conducted a focused operation across Saxony-Anhalt from July 24 to 26. During 535 control measures at the main train stations in Halle, Dessau-Roßlau, and Magdeburg, officers achieved 36 search successes.

Notable incident: On Friday at 3:30 PM, police arrested a 39-year-old traveler on the train between Merseburg and Halle, against whom two enforcement arrest warrants were outstanding. The man paid the outstanding sum on the spot, thus avoiding a prison sentence.

Magdeburg Expresses Condolences to Berlin

Magdeburg's Mayor Simone Borris has sent a letter of condolence to Berlin's Governing Mayor Kai Wegner following a suspected Islamist-motivated attack on Christopher Street Day in Berlin. The attack claimed at least one life and injured over 30 people.

Borris expressed deep sympathy and emphasized that Magdeburg—having itself suffered a similar act of violence on December 20, 2024—can particularly empathize with the grief.

New Drinking Water Fountains Sought

The city has launched an online survey on future public drinking water fountains. Citizens can anonymously vote on two new locations for 2027 until August 24.

• The Magdeburg Municipal Works will install and operate the facilities
• The Health and Veterinary Office will monitor water quality
• 80 percent of funding has already been approved; the city will cover the remaining 20 percent

New MVB App Launched

The Magdeburg Transport Companies (MVB) have launched a new mobility app on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

The "MVB App" combines timetable information, ticket purchasing, and various service offerings. The application initially launches as a beta version. Users can already register and try out the test version.
