Former Colombia and Mexico national team coach Juan Carlos Osorio has publicly expressed his desire to join Néstor Lorenzo's coaching staff for the Colombian National Team's next cycle, which includes the 2028 Copa América and 2030 World Cup. Speaking on Win Sports' Saque Largo program, Osorio stated he is willing to accept any role, including assistant coach, and would even work for a minimum wage to contribute to Colombian football. He emphasized the need to improve the country's playing philosophy starting from youth development. Osorio revealed he currently has three professional opportunities but prioritizes the national team. This comes after the Colombian Football Federation renewed Lorenzo's contract, and assistant Luis Amaranto Perea left to coach Independiente Medellín.

The Colombian Football Federation recently announced the renewal of Néstor Lorenzo as national team coach, but did not provide details on the duration or the coaching staff. What is clear is that at least one of his assistants will change, as Luis Amaranto Perea has already begun his tenure at the helm of Independiente Medellín.
Juan Carlos Osorio appeared as a guest on Saque Largo on Win Sports, where he discussed the Tricolor's performance in the 2026 World Cup and, in passing, expressed his desire to be part of this cycle leading up to the 2028 Copa América and the 2030 World Cup.
"I raise my hand and say to my country: I, Juan Carlos Osorio, am willing to be part of this renewal of Colombian football for a minimum wage, what a taxi driver or some other person earns, for my country and my people; I want to contribute and give back."
Osorio has no issue with whatever role he might take on if his words become reality:
"If Néstor Lorenzo tells me to be his assistant, I accept. Wherever I can contribute, I can be number one or number two. If I start as number two today, in the future I could become number one. It's about today, here and now; I have energy and I want to be part of this project. That's why I dare to say it."

Osorio Prioritizes Colombia
"Right now I have three opportunities, I'm considering them, but I want to be calm; maybe I'll leave and never have this chance to express to the footballing country: I want to be part of this renewal of Colombian football," added the coach from Risaralda.
Osorio envisions his contribution extending beyond the Colombian National Team. While he would like to be part of the senior squad, he believes he can also help develop grassroots football to change or improve the playing philosophy.
"Tomorrow many will say that I'm offering myself; let them think that, I expose myself to that. I just want to clarify that Colombia, if it wants to be among the top eight in the World Cup, has to improve the playing philosophy above all else and that comes from the youth development teams. I think I can contribute to my country for the education of our children. I'm not only talking about reaching the Colombian National Team."
