India Parliament Monsoon Session Day 7: Lok Sabha to debate Public Examinations Amendment Bill

The Rajya Sabha will discuss and pass the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill.

The Lok Sabha is scheduled to take up the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, for consideration and passing on Tuesday (July 28, 2026). The Rajya Sabha is slated to witness the introduction of the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development (Amendment) Bill, 2026, alongside the passage of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour (Amendment) Bill, 2026.

Union Minister Jitendra Singh introduced the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Amendment Bill, 2026, in the Lok Sabha on Monday (July 27, 2026). The Bill includes strong penal provisions to deal with cases of paper leaks. However, no discussion on the Bill took place as the Lok Sabha adjourned for the day over Opposition protests demanding a statement from the government on the use of police force against protestors in Delhi.

July 28, 2026 09:45 — MP Randeep Singh Surjewala submits Adjournment Motion to discuss alleged police excesses during student protests

Congress MP Randeep Singh Surjewala submitted an Adjournment Motion in the Rajya Sabha to discuss the alleged police excesses during student protests. He requested that the regular business of the day in the Rajya Sabha be suspended:

“for an immediate discussion on the reported assault on peacefully protesting students in Delhi on 20 July 2026, the use of lathi-charge, tear gas and pellet guns, the alleged assault on women students and journalists.”

He also sought a statement from the:

• Union Home Minister clarifying whether the use of force was authorised and identifying those responsible
• Hon’ble Prime Minister on the Government’s response, accountability, and safeguards for the future

“In view of these pressing concerns, the matter requires urgent consideration and discussion by the House.”

July 28, 2026 09:38 — Congress MP Manickam Tagore moves Adjournment Motion in Lok Sabha over Centre's stand on Cauvery, Mekedatu project

Congress MP Manickam Tagore on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) submitted an Adjournment Motion notice in the Lok Sabha seeking an urgent discussion on the Union Government’s stand regarding construction activities across the Cauvery River and the protection of Tamil Nadu’s legal rights and farmers’ interests, in the backdrop of the proposed Mekedatu project in Karnataka.

In his notice, Mr. Tagore termed the issue a “matter of urgent public importance” and expressed concern over the Centre’s recent reply regarding the proposed Mekedatu project.
