Portuguese Giants Target Tottenham Youngster

Roberto De Zerbi has been active in the summer transfer window, with six new signings already arriving at Tottenham Hotspur. The Italian manager's spending spree is not yet complete as he looks to build a squad capable of competing for Champions League qualification.

Having already invested heavily, the North London club must now facilitate player sales to generate funds and ensure compliance with Premier League financial regulations. The revenue from outgoing transfers could also help Spurs secure their attacking targets before the September 1 deadline.

Earlier this week, SL Benfica expressed interest in signing Souza. The Portuguese club reportedly submitted a €20 million offer for the left-back, a proposal Tottenham are currently evaluating. The 20-year-old's future at the club has become uncertain following the arrival of experienced left-back Andy Robertson from Liverpool. Now, Benfica's biggest rivals have entered the race.

FC Porto Show Interest in Souza

According to reliable journalist Bruno Andrade, Souza's representatives have travelled to Portugal to hold talks with FC Porto. They are expected to meet with the Portuguese champions in the coming days. FC Porto hopes these discussions can accelerate negotiations for Souza's transfer, though no formal offer has been made yet.

Souza was signed from Santos in January for a €15 million fee but made only four appearances during the second half of the season. The 20-year-old did not feature under Roberto De Zerbi in the last seven games and was recently left out of the squad for the pre-season tour to Australia and New Zealand. It is clear he does not feature in De Zerbi's immediate plans.

Andrade adds that Tottenham are open to doing business with Porto, although significant work remains before any agreement can be reached. A deal structure has yet to be proposed by Porto.

Tottenham Should Consider Temporary Exit for Souza

When Tottenham signed Souza from Santos in the winter transfer window, the expectation was that he would spend several seasons at White Hart Lane. However, the 20-year-old has accumulated just 144 minutes across four matches.

With the left-back position well-stocked, it appears the Brazilian has no immediate future under De Zerbi. Souza is reportedly seeking a move away from Tottenham this summer. Given that he is highly rated across South America but lacks top-level experience, a loan move would suit all parties.

The N17 bosses should only agree to a straight loan for Souza to Porto.
