CPI(M) and PDP condemn killing of 21 by security forces in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPI(M)] and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expressed concern in Srinagar on Tuesday (July 28, 2026) about continued repression and killings by security forces in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) over the past 24 hours.

CPI(M) Response

CPI(M) leader and legislator M. Y. Tarigami said:

"I stand with the people of Pakistan‑administered Kashmir — their demands are just: end harsh economic policies, restore fair governance, and protect democratic rights. The deaths and injuries in Rawalakot, Muzaffarabad, and Kotli are a painful reminder that grievances met with force only deepen the crisis."

Pointing to the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s ruling on the 12 refugee seats, he added:

"This struggle must be resolved constitutionally and peacefully — through dialogue, not repression. We express solidarity with families of the fallen. We call for accountability, relief for affected communities, and a political solution that honours rights and dignity."

PDP Response

PDP leader and former minister Naeem Akhtar appealed to Pakistan:

"To stop atrocities against our people in the part of our State that you hold. People’s demands cannot be brushed under the carpet by using brute violence. Engagement and dialogue are the only way forward to resolve all issues in the region."
