U.S. Air Force: Waist-to-height ratio not scored in fitness assessments

The U.S. Air Force clarified that waist-to-height ratio measurements submitted by active-duty airmen by July 31 will not be scored in physical fitness assessments or affect test currency or personnel actions. The requirement is a one-time biometric data collection to establish a baseline for the modernized Physical Fitness Readiness Program, which took effect July 1. The modernization aligns with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's push for stricter grooming and fitness standards across the military. Airmen who completed measurements during the diagnostic period (March 1-June 30) do not need to reassess. Exemptions apply for full medical exemptions, pregnancy/postpartum, or approved retirement/separation within 12 months. Reservists have until August 31 to comply.
