SportsBayern Munich captain and goalkeeper Manuel Neuer, 40, has announced that he will likely retire at the end of the 2026-27 Bundesliga season. Speaking at the team's training camp in Rottach-Egern, the 2014 World Cup winner revealed that while he considered stopping in 85% of cases, the quality of the squad and coaching staff convinced him to continue for one more year. Neuer, who extended his contract in May, stated he is playing for personal fulfillment and to help the team. He hinted at a dream ending: winning his third Champions League title in the final on June 5, 2027, at Atlético Madrid's Estadio Metropolitano. This will be his 21st Bundesliga season, 16th with Bayern and 5th with Schalke.
