A new poster of Khalifa, an action-thriller starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, was unveiled via the actor’s Instagram handle on Monday (July 27). The film, directed by Vysakh and produced by Jinu V Abraham and Suraj Kumar, is set to release on August 20, clashing with Nivin Pauly-starrer Bethlehem Kudumba Unit and Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game.
The film, with the tagline “Vengeance will be written in gold,” is also penned by Jinu V Abraham. In the poster, the protagonist is seen walking with an entourage, with the Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai in the backdrop. Prithviraj plays Aamir Ali, a gold smuggler in the film. Veteran actor Mohanlal plays Mambarakkal Ahmed Ali, Aamir’s grandfather. The film will release in two parts.
Earlier in July, a single from the film, ‘Asalayavale’, composed by Jakes Bejoy and sung by Sid Sriram, was released, garnering over three million views on YouTube.
Prithviraj was last seen in I, Nobody, which received an underwhelming response at the box office. He will also appear in SS Rajamouli’s Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra. The film is set to release in 2027.
Khalifa marks Vysakh’s 11th directorial venture and his second with Prithviraj, after Pokkiri Raja. His last film was the Mammootty-starrer Turbo (2024).
