Switzerland was eliminated in the quarterfinals by Argentina. Vargas, whose market value has risen to €15 million after a strong World Cup, has attracted Premier League interest and Sevilla hopes to earn around €20 million for him. Sow, valued at €7.5 million, has also drawn inquiries but no formal offers have been made. The squad will train in the Netherlands from July 30 to August 7, playing friendlies against NEC Nijmegen, Utrecht, and Bayer Leverkusen. Sevilla will play its fourth preseason friendly tonight (9:00 PM) against Ceuta. The match, held behind closed doors at the Estadio Jesús Navas, follows a mixed run of results:
- A penalty goal from Migue Sierra secured a win against Juventud Torremolinos
- A narrow loss in Poland against KS Cracovia
- A win on penalties in the Trofeo Puertas de Córdoba last Thursday
Manager Luis García Plaza continues to rotate minutes between academy players and first-team members while awaiting the return of key personnel.
Vargas and Sow to Rejoin Squad
Two important players—Rubén Vargas and Djibril Sow—are expected to report to the team's training camp in the Netherlands. Both Swiss internationals are finishing their vacations after participating in the recent World Cup, where Switzerland was eliminated in the quarterfinals following a 3-1 loss to Argentina in a match marked by a controversial red card for Breel Embolo.
The squad will travel to the Netherlands and be based there from Thursday, July 30 to August 7. During the stay, they will play three friendly matches:
- Friday, July 31: vs. NEC Nijmegen
- Sunday, August 2: vs. Utrecht
- August 8: vs. Bayer Leverkusen (at BayArena, Germany)
Transfer Market Activity
Rubén Vargas
Vargas' strong World Cup performance has elevated his market profile. According to Transfermarkt, his valuation has risen to €15 million, up from €12 million in June. Several clubs, including some from the Premier League, have monitored the former Augsburg winger. Vargas has delayed any decision on his future until after the World Cup and has not ruled out a departure.
"I want to play in the Champions League one day," Vargas said last month.
Sevilla's asking price for Vargas is reportedly around €20 million.
Djibril Sow
Sow also has attracted market interest, with several clubs inquiring about the exit conditions for both the midfielder and the club. No formal offer has been received, but any proposal will be considered. Sow was among the players who agreed to renegotiate his contract last season to assist the club with registrations. His current market value, per Transfermarkt, stands at €7.5 million.
