SportsAt 41 years old, former French international Mathieu Valbuena has signed a one-season contract with Santa Lucia, a club in the Maltese second division, with an option for an additional year based on matches played. Valbuena, who has 52 caps and 8 goals for France, traveled to Malta by private jet to finalize the deal. The attacking midfielder was considering retirement in Greece, where he runs an academy, but accepted the offer from Santa Lucia, which aims for promotion to the top flight. Valbuena previously played for Olympiakos' reserve team in the Greek second division, recording 11 matches, 3 goals, and 4 assists. He stated that he will continue playing as long as he feels he can contribute on the pitch.
