India’s Bindyarani Devi settled for bronze in the women’s 59kg weightlifting event at the Commonwealth Games 2026 in Glasgow, Scotland. The 27-year-old Indian recorded a total lift of 199kg.
Bindyarani, who won silver in the women’s 55kg category at the previous Games in Birmingham, could not replicate that performance on a day when Nigeria’s Rafiatu Folashade Lawal was in dominant form and rewriting records.

Lawal, the reigning Commonwealth Games champion, dominated the competition from the start and clinched gold with a total lift of 229kg. She was comfortably ahead of the field throughout and broke three records on her way to the title:
