Seoul — South Korea's four largest entertainment companies have confirmed the dates for a K-pop mega-festival conceived as a direct rival to Coachella. The inaugural edition of Fanomenon will run from December 2 to 12, 2027.
The announcement was made by the Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange, co-chaired by Culture Minister Chae Hwi-young and JYP Entertainment founder J.Y. Park.
What Is Fanomenon?
Fanomenon is a joint venture between K-pop's biggest and most renowned companies — HYBE, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment — backed by a public-private partnership with the South Korean government.
The name fuses the words "fan" and "phenomenon," putting fans in the driver's seat. Park, who conceived the project and first outlined it at KINTEX last October, has pledged to "build a world-class K-pop venue and plan a festival that surpasses the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival."
The Labels Behind Fanomenon and the Acts They Represent
The combined artist rosters of the four companies represent the bulk of K-pop's global commercial power.
HYBE
The largest of the four by revenue, HYBE racked up $537.5 million in concert revenue alone in 2025. Through its subsidiaries Big Hit Music, Pledis Entertainment, Source Music, and BELIFT Lab, it is home to:
- BTS
- SEVENTEEN
- TXT
- ENHYPEN
- LE SSERAFIM
- ILLIT
- CORTIS
In collaboration with Geffen Records, HYBE also holds a controlling interest in global groups KATSEYE and SAINT SATINE.
SM Entertainment
SM Entertainment's roster includes:
- Hearts2Hearts
- aespa
- NCT 127, NCT Dream, NCT WISH
- Red Velvet
- RIIZE
- EXO
- SHINee
- Girls' Generation (celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2027)
JYP Entertainment
JYP Entertainment's biggest acts at the moment include:
- Stray Kids
- TWICE
- DAY6
- ITZY
YG Entertainment
YG Entertainment brings in:
- BLACKPINK
- BABYMONSTER
- BIGBANG
- TREASURE
The prospect of acts from all four rosters performing on a shared bill has never happened at a concert event before, and is the core commercial proposition of Fanomenon.
What Fanomenon 2027 Will Look Like
The 11-day event will open with a gala on December 2 and split its programming across two venues:
- Seoul Arena in Changdong, northern Seoul — due for completion in May 2027
- KINTEX second exhibition centre in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province
Concert Schedule
Seoul Arena will host concerts on six days across two weekends, with multiple acts on each bill. The lineup will not be limited to K-pop; Park confirmed he has approached international artists about performing alongside Korean acts and received positive responses, though no names have been announced.
KINTEX Programming
KINTEX will host a separate music festival for approximately 20,000 people on weekends, broadening the bill into:
- Jazz
- EDM
- Rock
- R&B
- Hip-hop
- World music
- Traditional Korean music
On weekdays in between, the same halls will host:
- Fan meetings
- Production presentations
- Esports tournaments
- Screenings
- Business forums
Fandom-Centric Awards
The festival will also include a fandom-centric awards ceremony with a prize called the Fandemonium (a trademarked term). "The winner is not the artist but the artist's fans, and the artist accepts on their behalf," Park said at the press conference.
Visitor Projections
Organisers project 520,000 visitors across the 11 days, including 200,000 from abroad, with significant economic impact expected.
