Borussia Mönchengladbach has scheduled a 120-minute test match against Bundesliga side TSG Hoffenheim during their training camp in Rottach-Egern. The match will take place on August 7 at the Silberstadt-Arena in Schwaz, Austria, and will be played over two 60-minute halves to allow both teams to field two complete squads. This unusual format is part of Gladbach's preseason preparations under coach Eugen Polanski. The team will first play friendlies against Hansa Rostock and FC Rottach-Egern before facing Hoffenheim. Gladbach's preseason also includes a friendly against Aston Villa on August 15, followed by the DFB-Pokal first round on August 23 and the Bundesliga opener against RB Leipzig on August 29. The article notes that Gladbach surprisingly beat Hoffenheim 4-0 on the final matchday of the previous Bundesliga season.
Source report
Following their friendly match against third-division side Hansa Rostock on Saturday (2:00 PM), Borussia Mönchengladbach will travel to a training camp in Rottach-Egern on Lake Tegernsee, running from September 2 to 9.
During the training camp, the team, coached by Eugen Polanski (40), has scheduled two additional friendlies:
- August 5 (6:00 PM): Against hosts FC Rottach-Egern (Kreisliga) at the Stadion am Birkenmoos in Rottach-Egern. The club is also set to face FC Bayern Munich there this week.
- August 7 (4:00 PM): Against Bundesliga side and Europa League participant TSG Hoffenheim. This match will take place at the Silberstadt-Arena in Schwaz, Austria — approximately 60 kilometers from Rottach-Egern.
Notably, the match against Hoffenheim will not be played over the usual 90 minutes, but over two 60-minute halves. This format allows both teams to field two complete squads, each playing 60 minutes straight.
The last meeting between the two sides came on Matchday 34 of the past Bundesliga season, when Gladbach surprisingly won 4-0 against TSG. That strong performance is believed to have contributed to head coach Polanski retaining his position.
