SportsIpswich Town have signed Japan international forward Daizen Maeda from Celtic on a three-year contract until summer 2029, in a reported £10m deal. The 28-year-old, who helped Japan reach the last 32 of the 2026 World Cup, scored 79 goals in 212 appearances for Celtic, winning five league titles, three Scottish Cups, and two League Cups. Maeda expressed his dream of playing in the Premier League and vowed to 'battle hard, score goals, and provide assists.' Ipswich manager Gary O'Neil praised Maeda's work rate and physical attributes. The signing is part of Ipswich's squad strengthening after their promotion back to the Premier League. Maeda's final season at Celtic was particularly memorable, as he scored crucial goals including a dramatic winner against Hearts on the final day and a goal in the Scottish Cup final victory.
