Slavko Vincic, the 46-year-old Slovenian referee, has officially ended his refereeing career, as announced by the Football Association of Slovenia. His final match was the 2026 World Cup final between Spain and Argentina in East Rutherford, making him the first Slovenian head referee to officiate a World Cup final. Vincic's career included officiating the 2022 Champions League final, the 2024 Champions League final, multiple European Championships, and numerous high-profile club matches. He was named the best referee of the World Cup by the IFFHS and received the Giulio Campanati Award. Vincic began his FIFA international career in 2010 and was promoted to the UEFA Elite Referees group in 2019.
