NFL Coach Shanahan Receives More Than 40 Stitches
According to reports, Shanahan broke his nose and three ribs in the collision with another vehicle. He also received more than 40 stitches on his face and suffered a severe concussion.
Following the accident, Shanahan was immediately taken to a hospital, where he remained for the rest of the day before being discharged. Police confirmed that the other driver was uninjured in the crash.

Limited Participation in Training Camp
Shanahan will only be able to participate to a limited extent in the start of training camp, which begins on Sunday. According to ESPN, he has not yet received clearance from the 49ers medical staff to return to the field, as his concussion symptoms have not fully subsided. Assistant coach Chris Foerster (64) will initially represent him in his role as head coach.
The 49ers continued:
"Coach Shanahan will participate in team activities on a limited basis at the start of training camp while he recovers. Coach Shanahan and the 49ers organization would like to sincerely thank all the emergency personnel involved for their efforts and care."
