Valbuena, free since leaving Olympiacos' reserve team where he scored 3 goals and provided 4 assists in 11 matches, traveled to Malta by private jet on July 26, 2026, to finalize the deal. Santa Lucia, relegated from Malta's top flight in June 2024, hopes Valbuena's experience will help them return to the first division.
