Erling Haaland, in a YouTube video published on July 26, 2026, responded to a message from actor Tom Holland that was sent in May 2021. Holland, a Tottenham fan, had invited Haaland for a drink and asked him to join his favorite club. Haaland had previously left the message on 'seen' and joked he didn't know who Holland was. In the video, Haaland clarified the joke was taken out of context and said he felt bad, so he finally replied to Holland, explaining the situation. The article also notes Haaland's recent activities, including a birthday celebration and a 'viking row' at Gianluigi Donnarumma's wedding.
Source report
In a video published on his YouTube channel this Saturday, Erling Haaland responded to a message from Tom Holland dating back to 2021. The Spider-Man actor had, among other things, asked him to join his favorite club, Tottenham.
After celebrating his birthday in Saint-Tropez and starting a "Viking row" at Gianluigi Donnarumma's wedding, Erling Haaland has once again made headlines on social media. In a video posted on his YouTube channel, the Norwegian reacts to all the memes he has seen about himself — and one of them involves an anecdote that has caught widespread attention.
On the Jimmy Fallon Night Show aired a few days ago, Spider-Man actor Tom Holland admitted he had been ignored by the Manchester City striker when he sent him a message on Instagram in May 2021. At the time, Haaland was still playing for Borussia Dortmund. The actor had invited him for a drink:
"Hey, I just saw you're in Monaco. If you feel like grabbing a drink, let me know…"
The Norwegian had not responded to this invitation until now, leaving the message on "seen." He later stated in a Norwegian media outlet:
"Oh my god, is that the guy from Spider-Man? I haven't even watched the movies."
Haaland's Response
In his video today, Haaland justifies himself and says he "said that as a joke and my sentence was taken out of context. It seemed a bit rude and harsh at the time," he conceded.
The all-time top scorer for his national team then finally replied because he "felt bad about this situation." He reportedly sent Holland the following message:
"A story is going around that I'm ignoring you. Just to let you know that wasn't my intention."
The Tottenham Request
He then responded to another request from the young actor. At the end of the contact attempt five years earlier, Holland reportedly slipped to the Leeds native:
"And please, join Tottenham."
At that time, on May 23, 2021, Spurs had finished the 2020–2021 season in seventh place in the Premier League.
