FinanceGerman submarine builder TKMS and Spanish shipbuilder Navantia have signed a second Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), advancing their strategic partnership initiated earlier this year. The agreement aims to establish a joint cooperation framework for the production and marketing of selected submarine projects by the end of 2024, pending regulatory approvals. The partnership pools complementary industrial expertise to expand capacities, shorten delivery times, and enhance performance for international customers. Both companies emphasize that the collaboration is exclusively for future business and does not involve a merger or asset acquisition; existing contracts and programs remain independent. Executives from both firms highlighted the initiative's role in strengthening Europe's industrial defense base and strategic autonomy. The partnership will comply with competition law, export controls, and customer-specific approvals.
