Werder Bremen defeated second-division VfL Bochum 2-0 in a 120-minute pre-season friendly in Zillertal, Austria, attended by former TV host and Werder fan Jörg Wontorra. The match saw a heated scuffle in the 46th minute after Bochum's Crimaldi fouled Werder's Felix Agu from behind, prompting Agu to shove him and players from both sides to join in. Bochum coach Uwe Rösler intervened, and both Agu and ex-Bremen player Manuel Mbom received yellow cards. The sporting highlight came from 18-year-old Werder youngster Paul Erevbenagie, who scored a solo goal in the 42nd minute. In the second half, Werder fielded mostly reserves, and Salim Musah converted a penalty in the 70th minute to seal the win.
Source report
The atmosphere at Werder Bremen's extended preseason test match turned heated — and not just because of the scorching weather. With temperatures reaching 30 degrees in the shade, the Bundesliga side faced second-division VfL Bochum in their training camp finale in the Zillertal region of Austria. Werder won the 120-minute test 2-0.
Among the spectators was Jörg Wontorra (77), father of TV presenter Laura Wontorra. The veteran broadcaster (formerly of "Ran") is a longtime Werder fan and served on Bremen's supervisory board from 1999 to 2003.

Scuffle Erupts in Front of Wontorra
Things turned rough right before Wontorra's eyes. In the 46th minute, Werder right-back Felix Agu launched into an energetic sprint but was rudely taken down from behind by Bochum's Crimaldi. Agu reacted angrily, shoving the offender away. Several players from both sides quickly joined in, leading to a scuffle and heated verbal exchanges. Even VfL head coach Uwe Rösler stepped onto the field in an attempt to calm his players.
Agu and former Werder player Manuel Mbom both received yellow cards. After a few minutes, the match resumed.
Youngster Shines in First Half
The sporting highlight of the opening 60 minutes came from an unexpected source: Paul Erevbenagie (18). In the 42nd minute, the Werder youngster was beautifully played through by Olivier Deman. In a one-on-one situation, he calmly rounded VfL goalkeeper Timo Horn, left a Bochum defender lunging at thin air, and slotted the ball home with ease. Otherwise, the first half was evenly contested.
Talents Take Over in Second Half
In the second half, Werder fielded only young talents alongside goalkeeper Markus Kolke (35) — and they turned up the intensity. After several promising chances, Salim Musah (20) went down in the box, earning a penalty. The striker stepped up and converted confidently in the 70th minute.
