Manuel Pellegrini announced this Saturday the squad that will travel to Granada for the Trofeo Ciudad de Granada, kicking off at 8:00 PM at the Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes. The list includes Nelson Deossa, despite an earlier error by the club that omitted his name from the official channels.
Betis and Vasco da Gama have been negotiating a loan with a purchase option for the Colombian midfielder for weeks. However, the agreement has been delayed due to corporate issues at the Brazilian club. Deossa's inclusion in the travelling squad suggests his departure is not yet finalized. The talks centre on a loan with a purchase option that would become mandatory if certain sporting criteria are met, potentially bringing approximately €12.5 million into Betis's coffers. The final terms remain to be seen if the deal is confirmed.
Antony and Isco Absent
Antony will not travel to Granada. With the club's permission, the Brazilian joined the squad later than his teammates for the pre-season camp in Germany. Upon arrival, he followed a personalized training plan to regain match fitness. He did not feature in the first friendly before returning to Seville, nor in the Trofeo Colombino this week. Despite several training sessions with the group, he is not yet ready to play.
Isco Alarcón, as expected, is also not included. The Malaga native is following an individualized training plan to manage his workload, aiming to ease the pain in his ankle that has persisted since his last injury. His pre-season debut is still pending.
Youth Players and Squad List
The following youth players do travel: Gnangoro, Rica, Corralejo, Borja Alonso, and Morante, alongside regulars Pablo García and Ortiz. Third goalkeeper Manu González does not travel on this occasion.
Upcoming Schedule
After the Trofeo Ciudad de Granada, Betis will return to Seville and rest before heading to their second pre-season camp in Marbella, where two friendlies are scheduled against Olympique Lyonnais and Almería. The return of Asturian Álvaro Fidalgo, who played in the World Cup with Mexico, is expected for this second camp.
Pellegrini is also monitoring the progress of two injured players:
- Abde – already running on grass and progressing well.
- Aitor Ruibal – still has a few weeks before returning to the group.
