Georgia Power is using eminent domain to acquire nearly 30 residential properties along a 35-mile transmission line route in Georgia, part of a larger 1,000-mile grid expansion to power AI data centers. Residents like Ansley Brown face losing their childhood homes, with no choice but to sell. The project, approved by the Georgia Public Service Commission, will add 10 gigawatts of capacity, with 80% expected to serve data centers. Georgia Power denies being in the data center business but acknowledges the line will serve broader community needs.
