SportsFC Schalke 04 defeated Fagiano Okayama 3-1 in a friendly match during their training camp in Austria. After the match, coach Miron Muslic made an intriguing hint about the potential signing of veteran striker Edin Dzeko. When asked about Dzeko, Muslic smiled broadly and stated that 'people with character are still coming.' Dzeko, 40, has been without a contract since July 1 and is on vacation in Croatia. Schalke's sports director Frank Baumann recently flew to Dubrovnik to meet with Dzeko and present a contract offer. The basic salary is reportedly around 900,000 euros, with bonuses potentially pushing it to 1.3 million euros per year, making Dzeko a top earner alongside Kenan Karaman and Robin Gosens. Dzeko played a key role in Schalke's promotion last season with six goals and three assists. Muslic's enthusiastic response suggests a deal may be close.
