Babcock and Supacat partner to bid for British Army Light Mobility Vehicle programme

Babcock International and Supacat have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly bid for the British Army's Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) programme, which aims to replace the aging Land Rover fleet. The collaboration will leverage Babcock's General Logistics Vehicle (GLV) family, based on the Toyota Land Cruiser LC70 platform, offering medium wheelbase, long wheelbase, and utility variants. The partnership builds on their previous work, including the Jackal 3 programme. The UK Ministry of Defence issued a Request for Information in January 2025, seeking a common wheeled utility platform to consolidate vehicle types. Competing bids include a team-up between General Dynamics Land Systems–UK and Ricardo, offering militarized Ford Ranger variants. Babcock emphasizes the solution's affordability, supportability, and UK-based supply chain, aiming to strengthen sovereign capability and sustain skilled jobs.
