Samson Baidoo, the 22-year-old Austrian defender for RC Lens, suffered a thigh injury during a friendly match against Charleroi (2-2) on Saturday. Baidoo, who missed the Coupe de France final last season due to injury and was left off Austria's World Cup squad, felt pain in his left thigh during a defensive retreat and was substituted. Coach Dino Toppmöller expressed concern, noting Baidoo's disappointment and the need to wait for ultrasound and MRI results to determine the severity. The club fears a possible relapse of his recent hamstring problems.

In the stands of the small Avion stadium, Lens staff members immediately noticed that 22-year-old Samson Baidoo was touching his left thigh during a routine defensive retreat. With barely ten minutes remaining in the match between Lens and Charleroi (2-2), concern spread through the Sang et Or camp.
Baidoo, who was plagued by injuries last year and notably missed the Coupe de France final (won 3-1 against Nice), had also been left off Austria's World Cup squad.
At the moment of his substitution, his face clearly conveyed his distress.
"It's a shame," admitted his coach, Dino Toppmöller. "But we don't know what it is. We'll have to wait a bit for the ultrasound and MRI to find out more. I didn't talk to him because he was too disappointed. I didn't go see him. We need to give it some time because he already had issues last year. It's not easy, but now we have to wait for the results."
The club now hopes that this is not a relapse of his recent hamstring problems.
