WWE SummerSlam 2026, taking place August 2-3 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, will feature approximately 12-13 matches across two nights, following the WrestleMania 42 format. The confirmed card includes major title matches: CM Punk vs. Cody Rhodes for the WWE Championship, Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Championship, and Liv Morgan vs. Iyo Sky for the Women's World Championship. Other notable matches include Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi in a Hell in a Cell match, a Five-Way Ladder Match for the Interim WWE Women's Championship, and Gunther vs. Nick Aldis. The card underwent significant changes due to Brock Lesnar's move to SmackDown and Rhea Ripley's injury. The Intercontinental Championship match between Penta and Chad Gable is expected to air on ESPN during the first hour of the broadcast.
Source report
WWE SummerSlam 2026 will be longer than the typical premium live event (PLE) in more ways than one.
For the second consecutive year, SummerSlam will take place across two nights on August 2 and 3, this time at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. In addition, the two-night extravaganza will feature more matches on each night of the "Big Four" event than the standard PLE.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select (h/t TJRWrestling), SummerSlam 2026 is expected to have approximately 12 to 13 matches spread across Saturday and Sunday. This follows a similar pattern to WrestleMania 42 in April, which featured seven matches on WrestleMania Saturday and six on Sunday.
Hosting six to seven matches per night also represents a notable change from most of WWE's recent PLEs, which have featured five or fewer matches.

WWE SummerSlam 2026 Confirmed Match Card
With a dozen matches now set for SummerSlam, most of the show's two-night lineup appears to be finalized.
Here is the updated card for WWE SummerSlam 2026 following the latest edition of SmackDown:
- WWE Championship: CM Punk (c) vs. Cody Rhodes
- World Heavyweight Championship: Roman Reigns (c) vs. Seth Rollins
- Women's World Championship: Liv Morgan (c) vs. Iyo Sky
- Intercontinental Championship: Penta (c) vs. Chad Gable
- United States Championship: Trick Williams (c) vs. Baron Corbin
- Hell in a Cell Match: Brock Lesnar vs. Oba Femi
- No. 1 Contender's Match (Winner will challenge for the WWE Title): Finn Balor vs. Sami Zayn
- Five-Way Ladder Match for the Interim WWE Women's Championship: Jade Cargill vs. Tiffany Stratton vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Chelsea Green vs. TBD
- The Bloodline (Jacob Fatu and the Usos) vs. LA Knight, Royce Keys and Solo Sikoa
- The Bella Twins and Paige vs. Fatal Influence (Fallon Henley, Jacy Jayne and Lainey Reid)
- Gunther vs. Nick Aldis
- Danhausen vs. Dominik Mysterio
Much of the SummerSlam card has changed significantly from what WWE had originally planned.
Lesnar was expected to face Gunther at WWE SummerSlam, but his last-second move to SmackDown caused a number of changes that also affected Roman Reigns' WWE title reign. Similarly, WWE Women's Champion Rhea Ripley's injury resulted in a slew of adjustments to the SummerSlam card. That includes scrapping Ripley's planned title match, as well as Stratton's United States Championship title defense against newcomer Blake Monroe and a blockbuster singles match between Cargill and Flair.
With WWE potentially having space for an additional match at SummerSlam 2026, WrestleVotes Radio notes that Austin Theory and Bron Breakker of The Vision will potentially defend the World Tag Team Championship on the show. Based on recent storylines on Raw, the likeliest challengers would be Otis and Akira Tozawa.
Which WWE SummerSlam Match Will Air on ESPN's Broadcast?
WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select (h/t F4WOnline.com) also shed light on which SummerSlam 2026 match could air during the first hour of the broadcast on ESPN and ESPN Unlimited.
That would be the highly anticipated Intercontinental Championship match between Chad Gable and Penta. Gable, who recently became the No. 1 contender, is from Minneapolis, where SummerSlam takes place, making his placement in a featured match a no-brainer.
With Penta vs. Gable potentially set to highlight the first hour of SummerSlam, WWE should air at least three other matches on ESPN across the televised portions of the PLE on Saturday and Sunday.
