Woking director slams Defoe: missed meeting, training, failed to submit report

Woking's director of football Jody Brown has publicly criticized Jermain Defoe after the former England striker left his role as head coach after just four months. Brown claimed Defoe failed to attend a scheduled meeting and training session before his departure, and that a requested report on squad depth and recruitment targets was never submitted. Defoe had his contract mutually terminated on Thursday, having won two of six matches since taking his first managerial role in March. Brown admitted the appointment was his recommendation and took responsibility, stating that 'success as a player does not always translate into management and leadership.'
