Jovane Cabral Presented at Grêmio: 'I Didn't Think Twice'

Winger reinforces team coached by Luís Castro

Jovane Cabral was officially presented this Friday as a new signing for Grêmio, where he will play under head coach Luís Castro. Following his historic participation in the 2026 World Cup with Cape Verde, the former Sporting player was without a club after ending his contract with Estrela da Amadora. Now in Brazil, he aims to showcase his quality and help the Porto Alegre side.

"Grêmio is a historic club. I've known the club for a long time. Players who have passed through this great club—like Ronaldinho, Luis Suárez, and Luan—are top players. When I learned of the interest, I didn't think twice. Now it's about moving forward with the goal of working to put Grêmio at the top," said the winger, who will wear the number 77 jersey.

"Brazil is a brotherly people to both Cape Verde and Portugal. I know there's a lot of pressure here, but it's good pressure. I think all players like to have that pressure, because I'm at a great club," emphasized Jovane Cabral.

"I'm a team player, who finishes well, who fights for every ball, who never gives up. I also have a good shot and I get into the finishing zone. In terms of position, it's up to the coach to see where the team needs me," said Jovane, who is ready to make his debut on Sunday against Fluminense.

"I arrived three days ago, I started training yesterday. I was out for two weeks because of the World Cup, but I've already started training. It's up to the coach to decide whether I'll play or not," he noted.
