SportsSenegalese central defender Ibrahima Ba, 21, is close to signing with Sporting Portugal just five days after his transfer to Strasbourg collapsed due to last-minute salary renegotiations and a disputed medical examination. According to Portuguese newspaper Record and L'Équipe, Ba underwent successful medical tests on Tuesday, with no major knee issues detected. The player, who was injured at the end of last season but cleared by two MRIs, even played a preparatory match with Famalicao's U23 team. If finalized, the deal will see Famalicao receive €20 million plus a sell-on percentage. Ba, trained at AJEL Rufisque in Senegal, is expected to replace Ivorian defender Ousmane Diomandé, whose move to Nottingham Forest is increasingly certain. An official announcement is expected later Wednesday.
