Negotiations between Swedish club AIK Solna and Spanish side Real Zaragoza for the transfer of Bosnian international striker Samed Bazdar have broken down. The deal, which had been seen as the most feasible route for Bazdar's departure, derailed in recent hours despite earlier indications that a resolution was imminent. Real Zaragoza had already rejected offers from Switzerland's St. Gallen and Austria's Sturm Graz. Negotiations between Sweden's AIK Solna and Real Zaragoza for the transfer of Samed Bazdar have been broken off. The Stockholm club and the Aragonese side were finalizing an agreement for the departure of the Bosnian international, though as this newspaper reported, the deal was neither close nor near to being finalized. In recent hours, the operation has derailed. Barring a turnaround, Bazdar will not join AIK.
Real Zaragoza had already rejected two offers — one from Switzerland's St. Gallen and another from Austria's Sturm Graz. As El Periódico de Aragón also reported, AIK Solna was among the clubs that had shown the most interest, emerging as the most feasible route for his necessary departure.
Lalo Arantegui assured last Wednesday in a press conference that he expected a resolution to the striker's case by next week at the latest. He had given the player permission to extend his vacation, as Bazdar was supposed to rejoin training this past Thursday after the World Cup. However, with negotiations now broken off, it remains to be seen whether they can be revived or if the striker must return.
Other Options Fall Behind
The other two options had fallen behind compared to AIK's offer:
- St. Gallen's offer, initially the best, is now directly ruled out. It involved income of up to €2 million based on sporting performance, with very achievable clauses. However, that offer is no longer viable for Zaragoza and will definitely not be revived, as St. Gallen has already signed another striker — Switzerland's Andrin Hunziker from Basel.
- Sturm Graz offered a loan with a purchase option of €1 million and did not increase it, so it was rejected.

Real Zaragoza aims to recover the €3 million investment made two summers ago for the striker — the most significant and by far the biggest bet made by Real Z LLC at the helm of the Aragonese club — or at least get as close as possible. However, this is not easy. Although Bazdar still has a reputation and youth, and his participation in the World Cup (despite limited playing time — just 30 minutes in the first match) boosts his profile, his performance both at the Aragonese club and during his loan in Poland has been far below expectations.
