SportsFC Barcelona officially announced the signing of Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund on July 23, 2026. The 24-year-old offensive star signed a contract with the Catalan club until 2031, ending a transfer saga that had been building for days. Adeyemi had already traveled to Barcelona the previous week and passed his medical examination. The official announcement was delayed because club president Joan Laporta and sporting director Deco were in the United States. Borussia Dortmund will receive a fixed transfer fee of 22 million euros, with potential bonus payments of up to nine million euros, plus a sell-on clause. BVB coach Niko Kovac acknowledged the loss of Adeyemi's exceptional speed but expressed confidence in replacing him adequately. Adeyemi joined Dortmund from RB Salzburg in 2022 and was known as one of the Bundesliga's most dangerous attackers due to his pace.
