SportsBayer Leverkusen's 18-year-old attacking midfielder Kerim Alajbegović is on the verge of a €40 million transfer to Chelsea, following former Leverkusen coach Xabi Alonso to the Premier League. Alonso, now Chelsea's manager, has intensified his interest in the Bosnian international, who impressed during a loan at RB Salzburg and at the World Cup. The deal is reportedly close, with €35 million fixed plus add-ons. Alajbegović, a technically gifted playmaker with a strong pass and accurate shot, was brought back to Leverkusen this summer after a year at Salzburg. His contract runs until 2031 without a release clause. Other clubs like Napoli and Atalanta made offers but fell short of Bayer's valuation. The move is expected to be finalized this weekend.
