AT&T reported better-than-expected quarterly wireless subscriber additions on July 22, 2026, driven by cheaper unlimited plans and bundled mobile-broadband offerings. The company added 432,000 net monthly bill-paying wireless subscribers, surpassing the FactSet estimate of 338,500. Shares rose 4% on the news. AT&T's convergence strategy, including the OneConnect bundle launched in March, also led to record broadband additions of 367,000 fiber and 279,000 fixed wireless subscribers. Total revenue was $31.6 billion (slightly below estimates of $31.80 billion), while adjusted EPS of 65 cents beat the 59-cent estimate. Free cash flow reached $4.7 billion, above Visible Alpha estimates. CEO John Stankey attributed the results to targeted promotions and retention efforts.

AT&T exceeded quarterly estimates for wireless subscriber additions on Wednesday, driven by cheaper unlimited plans paired with bundled mobile-broadband offerings that attracted value-conscious customers. The company’s shares rose 4% following the announcement.
The gains reflect AT&T’s broader convergence strategy of selling multiple connectivity services to the same household, aimed at reducing churn and increasing customer lifetime value as U.S. telecom providers compete for a finite pool of users.
Key Highlights
- Wireless subscriber additions: 432,000 net monthly bill-paying wireless subscribers added during the April-to-June period, surpassing FactSet estimates of 338,500 additions.
- Broadband additions: Record growth with 367,000 new fiber internet users and 279,000 fixed wireless subscribers.
- Revenue: Total revenue of $31.6 billion for the second quarter, compared with estimates of $31.80 billion (LSEG data).
- Adjusted earnings per share: 65 cents, above the analysts’ average estimate of 59 cents.
- Free cash flow: $4.7 billion for the quarter, exceeding Visible Alpha estimates of $4.43 billion.
Strategic Initiatives
In March, AT&T launched OneConnect, a single subscription that bundles unlimited wireless service with home internet under one monthly bill. The company has also introduced customizable Build-A-Plan options and new entry-level wireless plans with more high-speed data, while continuing to invest aggressively in expanding its fiber network.
Market Impact
“The cross-selling that they’ve been building towards, it’s actually showing up in the numbers right now,” said David Wagner, head of equity at Aptus Capital Advisors, which holds AT&T stock. He noted that AT&T is taking market share.
Approximately 42.5% of homes using AT&T’s advanced internet services also subscribe to its wireless offerings.
CEO John Stankey attributed the growth to targeted promotions and customer retention efforts that helped attract users to bundled offerings.
