Babcock and Supacat partner to bid for British Army Light Mobility Vehicle programme

Babcock International and Supacat have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly bid for the British Army's Light Mobility Vehicle (LMV) programme, which aims to replace the aging Land Rover fleet. The collaboration will leverage Babcock's General Logistics Vehicle (GLV) family, based on the Toyota Land Cruiser LC70 platform, offering medium wheelbase, long wheelbase, and utility variants. The partnership builds on their previous work delivering the Jackal 3 programme. The UK Ministry of Defence issued a Request for Information for the LMV in January 2025, seeking a common wheeled utility platform to consolidate vehicle types. Competitors include General Dynamics Land Systems–UK, which has teamed with Ricardo to offer a Ford Ranger-based solution with 4x4 and 6x6 variants. Babcock emphasizes the use of a UK-based supply chain and support for sovereign capability.
