Manchester City complete £116m signing of Elliot Anderson

Manchester City have officially announced the signing of 23-year-old midfielder Elliot Anderson from Nottingham Forest on a five-year contract running until June 2031. The deal, worth £116 million, was initially agreed while Anderson was playing for England at the World Cup and was set to be the most expensive transfer in British history, though it has since been surpassed by Morgan Rogers' £117m move to Chelsea. Anderson, who joined Forest from Newcastle in 2024 for £35m, helped the club finish seventh in the Premier League and reach the Europa League semi-finals. He also became a key player for England under Thomas Tuchel, featuring in every World Cup match. City fended off competition from Manchester United to secure the midfielder, who will play under new head coach Enzo Maresca.
