Liverpool FC has officially announced that third-choice goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has signed a new contract extending his stay at Anfield until 2029. The 29-year-old former England U21 international joined on a free transfer last summer and made four appearances for the Reds in the 2024-25 season. Woodman made his Premier League debut in April during the Merseyside derby against Everton, coming off the bench to help secure a 2-1 victory. He later started two top-flight matches due to injuries to Alisson and Giorgi Mamardashvili, earning the Carlsberg Man of the Match award for his performance against Crystal Palace. Woodman expressed delight at the extension, stating his goal remains to train hard and be ready when called upon. He will continue as part of the first-team goalkeeping group under new head coach Andoni Iraola.

Liverpool FC have officially announced that goalkeeper Freddie Woodman has signed a new contract with the club, extending his stay at Anfield.
The 29-year-old joined Liverpool on a free transfer last summer, bolstering the Reds' goalkeeping department. He has now agreed to remain with the club beyond his initial deal.
Woodman's Reaction
"To be honest, I'm absolutely delighted," Woodman told Liverpool's official website. "Looking back at last season, it was a fantastic experience for me personally. During pre-season preparations, when the club offered me a contract to stay, I was incredibly excited."
"I'm so happy to renew here and be part of this top club. I feel proud, and my heart is full of emotions. Last season, I joined the team and fulfilled my duties. When I got the chance to play—especially in that match against Crystal Palace—I felt a real connection with the fans and deeply understood their emotions.
"Now, having the opportunity to stay and continue being part of this is amazing. My family and I are all thrilled about it."

Role Under New Head Coach
Woodman will continue to serve as part of the Reds' first-team goalkeeping group under new head coach Andoni Iraola.
"My goal is actually exactly the same as last year: give my all in daily work, because I could be called upon at any moment," Woodman added.
"Last season—it might sound a bit crazy—but when that moment came against Everton, I was ready. I trained hard all season because I knew I might only play a small role, so that will be my goal this season too. The rest is just training, training, and more training until that moment arrives.
"When that moment truly comes, I know I'll be fully prepared and ready to go."
