SportsSenegalese central defender Ibrahima Ba, 21, is close to signing with Sporting Portugal just five days after his transfer to Strasbourg collapsed due to last-minute salary renegotiations and a disputed medical exam. Ba underwent successful medical tests on Tuesday, with no major knee issues found, contrary to earlier concerns from Strasbourg sources. He had been injured at the end of the season but was monitored by his club Famalicao, and two MRIs showed no problems. The transfer fee is set at €20 million plus a sell-on percentage. Ba, who trained at AJEL Rufisque in Senegal, is expected to replace Ivorian defender Ousmane Diomandé, who is moving to Nottingham Forest. An official announcement is anticipated later on Wednesday.
