Raphinha rejects lucrative Al-Hilal offer, opts to stay at Barcelona

In recent weeks, rumors have been rife that Al Hilal might launch an offensive with a sky-high contract to persuade the Brazilian winger to join, but the Saudi club has now decided to adjust its targets and instead secure another left winger to bolster its attack. This shift marks a fundamental turning point in the transfer saga that has surrounded Barcelona for much of the summer, and the story has now essentially come to a close.

Since the start of the summer window, the Brazilian international has been a key target for Al Hilal. The Saudi side was willing to make a significant financial effort, both to meet Barcelona's asking price and to offer Raphinha a contract far exceeding his current earnings at Camp Nou. However, the player's stance has remained consistent: his priority has always been to stay in Flick's plans and continue competing at the highest level of European football.

Raphinha's rejection has forced Al Hilal to rethink their recruitment strategy. According to Romano's confirmation, the Saudi club has beaten Roma to reach a full agreement with West Ham United for the transfer of Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville. The deal will be completed with a fixed fee of £55 million plus £10 million in add-ons, and the player has given the green light for the transfer and authorized a medical. With this signing, Al Hilal has filled the position they had been trying to strengthen with Raphinha for weeks, at least temporarily ending one of the transfer sagas that Barcelona's management was most concerned about.

The Brazilian international's wish has always been to stay at Barcelona. After a season plagued by injuries, Raphinha believes he still has a long way to go at the club and hopes to continue being part of the project under Flick. Additionally, Raphinha still plays an important role in the dressing room, and his contract runs until June 2028, so the club has never been forced to push for his departure unless the player himself takes that step. Although the sports management has strengthened the winger position by bringing in Anthony Gordon and is close to finalizing deals for Adeyemi and Bissouma, the priority has always been to keep Raphinha as long as he does not actively request a transfer.

While the transfer window remains open and new suitors could emerge at any time, Summerville's move to Al Hilal has removed the biggest uncertainty surrounding Raphinha's future and temporarily shelved what could have been one of the largest deals of the summer.
