Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) has entered into an academic agreement with Google to equip engineering students with industry-relevant skills, placements, and practical education.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday by VTU Vice-Chancellor S. Vidyashankar, Registrar (Administration) Prasad B. Rampure, and Head of Google for Education India Sanjay Jain.
Scope of the Agreement
The MoU aims to provide training in:
- Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills
- Faculty skill development
- Cloud computing
- Data science
- Cybersecurity
The programme is designed to prepare students for industry requirements and employment opportunities.

Key Statements
Prof. Vidyashankar said: “VTU has 220 engineering colleges with three lakh students. After completing engineering, students must be ready for immediate employment that is aligned with industry needs. Hence, we have partnered with Google and other companies to emphasise skill education. This will truly benefit engineering students.”
Mr. Jain said: “We are delighted to sign this agreement. Through this programme, we will train both students and faculty according to industry requirements. Based on the National Education Policy (NEP) and State Education Policy (SEP), we have several learning models that will be introduced.”
Qualcomm Collaboration
Qualcomm, through its subsidiary Stem Lore Innovators LLP, has signed an agreement to provide long-term education in:
- AI
- Product prototyping
- Embedded systems
- Internet of Things (IoT)
A Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Edge AI will be established. The CoE will be set up in phases at an estimated cost of ₹20 crore, according to the release.
SEEL Digital Learning Platform
Through Mysuru’s e-learning centre, an advanced digital learning platform — Simulation Enabled Experiential Learning (SEEL) — is being launched. Key features include:
- Online lab work access
- All required software available
- Access for engineering and MBA students
- Cloud-based operation, allowing students to log in anytime
