The Allianz Arena in Munich is being converted back into a football stadium after hosting a series of major concerts over the past month and a half. The stadium, home to FC Bayern, was repurposed because the city lifted a concert ban due to extensive renovations at the Munich Olympic Stadium (expected until 2028). Performers included Linkin Park, Foo Fighters, The Weeknd, BTS, and Helene Fischer. As of Tuesday, floor panels and tarps have been removed, and the ground is being prepared for new hybrid roll-out turf. The next home game is the Telekom Cup against RB Leipzig on August 15, followed by the Bundesliga season opener against VfB Stuttgart on August 28.

Munich – The Allianz Arena is being transformed back into a football stadium. For the past six weeks, FC Bayern's home ground was repurposed for concerts rather than matches for the German double winners. This was made possible after the city lifted its concert ban due to the extensive renovation of the Munich Olympic Stadium, which is expected to continue until 2028.
Performers at the Fröttmaning Arena included US rock band Linkin Park, the Foo Fighters, The Weeknd, South Korean group BTS, and most recently, Helene Fischer. Now, the schlager queen's mega-stage has been dismantled, marking the end of the concert summer.
Conversion Underway
Since Sunday, crews have been working to convert the Allianz Arena back into a football stadium. Floor panels on the ground are being removed with forklifts, and truck after truck is hauling away tons of concert construction materials. The stage setups for the bands were sometimes spectacular: for Linkin Park, a large yellow crane stood in the middle of the German record champions' arena, and a mega-stage was also built for Helene Fischer.

New Hybrid Roll-Out Turf
Dismantling is now in full swing. By Monday, a large portion of the floor panels had been removed. By Tuesday, the bare ground was visible again, along with the artificial turf sections in front of the benches. Only the last sheets of foil were being rolled up in front of the south curve. Afterwards, the subsurface will be perfectly prepared for the new grass.

As soon as the weather permits, the new hybrid roll-out turf will be installed. There is ample time for laying the new surface, as FC Bayern uses a modern turf system that requires almost no time to grow. The next home game is not until August 15 (3:30 PM): the Telekom Cup against RB Leipzig. Two weeks later, the Bundesliga season opener against VfB Stuttgart will take place at the Allianz Arena on August 28.
