Bayern Munich's new away kit video features coach Kompany and cult-status assistant 'Mr. Aura'

Munich – An unusual idea from FC Bayern is winning praise online. The German record champions unveiled their new white away kit for the upcoming season on Monday. The club also released a video on its social media channels that has been particularly well received by younger fans.

In the clip, coach Vincent Kompany (40) makes his way from the Allianz Arena dressing room toward the bench, speaking about the special energy that carried his team to a double last season and that he hopes will power a successful 2026/27 campaign. The Belgian speaks of a special aura — referred to within the club as the "Mia san mia" feeling — which the new away kit is also intended to radiate. The team will wear it for the first time this Saturday (3:30 p.m.) in a friendly against third-division side SV Wehen Wiesbaden.

Kompany's Buddy Appears in Kit Spot

As the coach speaks, he passes some of his stars, including Michael Olise (24), who are already wearing the white jersey with red and blue accents. When Kompany enters the player tunnel toward the pitch, the video takes a humorous turn: His buddy and personal assistant Rodyse Munienge (40) is waiting there to accompany him — also wearing the new kit, with the number 100 on the back and the inscription "Mr. Aura."

The backstory: "Mr. Aura" is the nickname Munienge earned from many Bayern fans on social media due to his laid-back vibe and cool demeanor (such as wearing shorts in any weather). That is why Munienge now plays an unexpected supporting role in the kit spot. The cameo has brought great amusement and approval from supporters — much like the new retro-look shirt itself, which recalls designs from the late 1990s and early 2000s and is fittingly adorned with an old club crest used until the formation of the professional AG in 2002.

Kompany's Assistant Has Cult Status at Bayern

Why is Munienge so popular that Bayern is now using him for advertising? Many fans celebrate the special friendship that connects him with head coach Kompany:

• The two grew up together in Brussels' troubled "Quartier Nord" neighborhood.
• They are best men and godfathers to each other's children.
• As early as 2006, Munienge moved with the former center-back to Hamburg when Kompany joined HSV.
• He was also present at Kompany's coaching stints at Anderlecht and Burnley, and came to Munich with him in July 2024.

At Bayern, Munienge handles various tasks for Kompany, such as filming training sessions with two drones. The head coach raves: "Rodyse is very important. People always say he's my buddy, but above all, he's also very important in my work. You have to earn the right to be here. We spend many hours together in this building. He's always there until very late. If anyone turns off the lights at the end, it's Rodyse."
