German media Bild reports that Bayern Munich's refusal to lower their €30 million asking price for midfielder João Palhinha has led to a transfer stalemate. Tottenham Hotspur, under coach Roberto De Zerbi, initially wanted to sign Palhinha permanently but abandoned the idea after Bayern refused to negotiate. Now, Portuguese clubs Benfica and Sporting CP are interested but cannot afford the fee and prefer a loan, which Bayern opposes. Bayern's remaining hope is Aston Villa, who have expressed interest, but the club may need to significantly reduce their price or accept a loan to avoid keeping a player who has no place under coach Vincent Kompany. Palhinha has returned for pre-season training while awaiting a resolution.

German media outlet Bild has provided an update on the transfer situation involving Bayern Munich midfielder João Palhinha.
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Roberto De Zerbi is a strong admirer of Palhinha and had hoped to secure his signature through a permanent transfer. However, Bayern Munich refused to lower their asking price, insisting on the €30 million buyout clause. This stance led Tottenham to abandon their pursuit of a permanent deal.
The decision now appears to have backfired. While Portuguese clubs Benfica and Sporting CP have expressed interest in Palhinha, neither can afford Bayern's asking price. Both clubs prefer a loan arrangement—exactly the outcome Bayern wishes to avoid.
Bayern's remaining hope rests with Aston Villa, who have shown interest. However, the German club may be forced to significantly reduce their asking price or eventually agree to a loan. If neither option materializes, they risk failing to find a buyer altogether and retaining the player.
Palhinha has no place under manager Vincent Kompany, who has not included the midfielder in his plans. The 29-year-old returned to the club yesterday for pre-season training while awaiting a resolution.
