SportsMelvine Malard, a 23-year-old French striker, has joined Manchester United on loan from Olympique Lyonnais on transfer deadline day. The loan runs until the end of the season. Malard spent nine years at Lyon, scoring 33 goals in 94 appearances. She began her career at hometown club Saint-Denis. Internationally, she has represented France at all youth levels, scoring 32 goals in 48 youth caps, and made her senior debut in 2020, netting 6 goals in 21 appearances. She played in Euro 2022 but missed the 2023 Women's World Cup despite scoring three goals in qualifying. Malard has won four French league titles, four UEFA Women's Champions League titles, and three Coupe de France trophies with Lyon, as well as the U19 European Championship. She adds depth to Manchester United's striker department and is expected to compete with Geyse for playing time.
