The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) apologized on Sunday after test results that linked a growing cyclosporiasis outbreak to iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms were found to be a false positive. The FDA stated it has not yet identified any product as the source of the parasite-borne illness. Taylor Farms, a supplier for Taco Bell, confirmed it received the FDA's apology and noted that its iceberg lettuce from central Mexico was mistakenly identified as positive for Cyclospora. The company had previously issued a voluntary recall of that lettuce based on the initial FDA information. Taylor Farms emphasized that all other products are not part of the recall and remain available. The company did not state whether it will resume selling the affected lettuce. The outbreak continues to grow as investigations proceed.
