PoliticsOn July 18, 2026, a concert by DJ Barbara Butch in Grenoble was interrupted by approximately 150 pro-Palestinian activists responding to a boycott call supported by La France Insoumise (LFI). The activists waved Palestinian flags, blew whistles, and made obscene gestures. The Grenoble city hall condemned the disruption as an 'intolerable aggression,' reporting that glass bottles and projectiles were thrown at the stage and electrical installations were sabotaged. The concert was suspended after 20 minutes for safety reasons. LFI city councilor Allan Brunon, who was present, characterized the protest as 'peaceful' and denied any violence or projectiles. The boycott stemmed from Butch's signing of a column supporting the controversial Yadan bill against antisemitism, which has since been withdrawn. Butch, a prominent figure in Parisian LGBTQ+ nightlife and a participant in the 2024 Olympics opening ceremony, was performing at the Cabaret Frappé festival.
